This Privacy Policy explains how Koyal Labs, LLC ("Koyal Labs," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when you use Readfull and related services (collectively, the "Services").
"Personal Information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be linked to an individual or household.
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Data We Collect
A) Account & Identity
When you create an account or sign in, we may collect:
- Email address
- Authentication and session identifiers used to keep you signed in securely
B) Onboarding & Personalization Information (Including Before Sign-In)
During onboarding, before you create an account or sign in, we may collect and temporarily store information to personalize your experience, including:
- First name and last name
- Gender (if provided)
- Reading habits (e.g., books per week, daily reader or not)
- Reading goals (e.g., yearly book goal, daily minutes goal, daily sessions goal)
- Preferred reminder time
- Favorite genres
- "Blockers" (things that prevent you from reading consistently)
- Selected books during onboarding (seed books)
If you do not complete sign-in, onboarding answers may be stored locally on your device temporarily and are not associated with an account.
C) Profile Information
If you complete your profile, we may collect:
- Username
- Profile photo (if uploaded)
D) Reading Activity & App Usage Data
To provide core functionality, we collect data you choose to create or log, including:
- Reading sessions (duration, pages read, timestamps)
- Book status, progress, and ratings
- Quotes you save (quote text and optional metadata such as page number or source)
E) Device & Technical Data
We may collect limited technical information, including:
- Timezone or timezone offset (tzOffsetMinutes) to calculate daily stats correctly
- Basic device and app information when you contact support (e.g., device model, OS version, app version)
F) Contacts (Only If You Choose to Share)
If you choose to share a book or content with a friend:
- We may request access to your contacts only to allow you to pick a recipient
- We do not upload or store your contacts on our servers
G) Photos / Storage (Android Only)
On Android devices:
- If you choose to save a generated share image, we may request storage access only to save the image to your device
2. How We Use Data
We use Personal Information to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Authenticate and sign you in
- Personalize your experience using onboarding preferences, goals, and reminder times
- Generate reading insights, statistics, and progress tracking (including timezone-aware calculations)
- Display your library, reading sessions, goals progress, and saved quotes
- Enable sharing features that you initiate (e.g., sharing a quote or session image)
- Provide customer support and troubleshoot issues
- Improve app performance, reliability, and usability
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms
3. How We Store Data (Local vs. Server)
On Your Device
Onboarding answers may be stored locally on your device as a draft to prevent data loss during onboarding or sign-in.
You can clear this data by signing out, clearing app data, or using your device's settings.
On Our Servers
Once you create an account or sign in, we store onboarding information, profile data, reading sessions, library data, ratings, and saved quotes associated with your account.
4. Sharing & Disclosure of Data
A) Sharing Quote or Session Images
If you choose to share a quote or reading session:
- The data required to generate the share image (e.g., book title, author, cover, quote text, session duration, pages read) may be sent to our servers to generate the image
- The generated image is returned to your device for sharing
- We do not make this content public unless you explicitly choose to share it
B) Contacts
- Contact access is used only to help you select a recipient for sharing
- We do not upload, store, or retain your contacts
C) Service Providers
We may share data with trusted third-party service providers (e.g., hosting, databases, media delivery, analytics, payments) who:
- Process data only on our instructions
- Are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it solely to provide services to us
D) Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or prevent fraud or abuse.
5. Widgets
Readfull does not provide an iOS widget at this time.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
- We retain account and reading data for as long as your account is active
- You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time
- Some data may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period for security and recovery, then is deleted
- If you begin onboarding but do not create an account, onboarding draft data remains only on your device until you complete onboarding or clear the app data

7. Permissions & Consent
- We request access to sensitive permissions (such as contacts or storage/photos) only after you choose an action that requires them
- You may deny or revoke permissions at any time through your device settings
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access your Personal Information
- Correct or update inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data
- Request a copy or export of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
9. Privacy Rights for California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide you with specific rights, including the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt out of the sale of personal information

We do not sell your Personal Information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

Readfull is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13.
